US President Joe Biden has been slammed following comments he made about Donald Trump’s supporters.
 
In a campaign Zoom event on Tuesday, Biden spoke about ‘Kill Tony’ podcast host Tony Hinchcliffe’s joke about Puerto Rico.
 
Hinchcliffe’s joke about Puerto Rico being a “floating island of garbage” received backlash from critics.
 
The oldest-ever sitting president, however, believed the comedian's joke was a perfect description for Trump supporters.
 
“Donald Trump has no character. He doesn’t give a damn about the Latino community. Just the other day, a speaker at his rally called Puerto Rico a floating island of garbage,” he said.
 
“The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters.”
 
Republican vice-presidential candidate JD Vance and Vivek Ramaswamy, among others, slammed Biden’s “disgusting” comment on X.
 
“This is disgusting. Kamala Harris and her boss Joe Biden are attacking half of the country,” Vance wrote.
 
“There's no excuse for this. I hope Americans reject it.”
